ABACUS:

  A reliable solid-state biquinary computing device now

  partly superseded by the Cray series.

BUFFER:

  A region between two devices designed to distort or, if

  possible, prevent the flow of data in either direction.

BUS:

  A ponderous vehicle for transporting people or data at

  irregular intravals.

CALL:

  A polite but unheeded plea for help from one piece of

  troubled coding to another.  Subsequent, less polite,

  calls are known as screams.

DOCUMENTATION:

  1 The promised literature that fails to arrive with the

  suporting hard/software. 2 A single, illegible,

  photocopied page of proprietary caveats and suggested

  infractions.

PAPER LOW:

  A lamp that indicates that your output is now appearing on

  the platen.

TEMPLATE:

  A device for producing stylized graffiti.
