Paul's reminicences about the deletion of the meter results reminded me of another benchmark story. Ed Brunelle was working on a benchmark a few years back. He was the only user on a 4 megaword benchmark system. He spent most of 12 hours editing the benchmark scripts and building all sorts of control files, etc. Just before he was to shut down the system crashed, with out ESD. When he got the system running again he discovered that since he had all that memory the work he had done never got written out. The system had never needed to evict a page in memory so the results of all his work never migrated to disc and with the ESD-less crash never will. AH yes those were the days. ==cls== -------------------- End of Miscellaneous Digest ***************************
